2 unscrew the recessed light bulb from the can light and then remove the trim kit typically this round trim piece just snaps in and out. Step 1 gather all the supplies and remove the light bulb from the recessed light fixture. Screw that into the socket. Disconnect and remove the trim from the recessed fixture.

1 turn off the breaker for the light you will be working on. Step 2 open the recessed light conversion kit. Leave existing socket in place. It is basically a screw on light bulb without the bulb but with wires.

Screw the prewired socket adapter into the recessed fixture. Remove recessed fixture remove existing recessed fixture by twisting out light bulb turning and removing casing and releasing clips that hold recessed light shell to socket. Preassemble the mounting bracket which will support the new pendant light. Unscrew the lightbulbs from the recessed fixture.

If not when you install the pendant then eventually as gravity works on it and temperature and humidity fluctuate. The design is horrendous and dangerous.
